April 1st.
7:12 am:
It’s been an hour. Neither grandparent has noticed the googly eyes.
My kid and I keep giggling.
7:35 am:
We were too obviously making eye contact and grinning. Gigi noticed something was up and spotted her water bottle! 👀
But Pop Pop still has no clue….
8:18 am:
Pop Pop found the googly eyes on the coffee maker! Both boys are running around like banshees, grins plastered to their faces.
Dad is still sleeping….
9:04 am:
By now everyone is awake and on the hunt for more. My kids are tickled pink that their grandparents will be finding these for months, if not years.
My 8-yr old and I had put our heads together earlier in the week because he reaaaaaalllly wanted to play an April Fools prank on his grandparents.
Problem is, I don’t like making people feel bad. Most pranks seem mean to me: they make people feel foolish.
So we decided on the googly eyes prank, which TBH just delights everyone.
I’d rather delight than make someone feel dumb.
That's true for playful pranks AND for how I approach my work.
Tech bros & babes will condescend if your DIY site needs work. But Reader, are you a website designer? No!
So I don’t want you to feel crappy about any of it – I just want to help fix it.
Look, your DIY website was exactly what you needed when you planted your flag. That scrappy self-starter spirit? It got you here.
Now? Your business is crushing it IRL while your website struggles to keep up.
But here’s the thing:
Outgrowing your starter site isn’t a problem, it’s progress.
Like when my kid grew out of his favorite Pokemon tshirt. It wasn’t a problem (I mean, except for him 😆). He was simply growing up. That’s what is supposed to happen.
And just like I got him a bigger shirt, upgrading a lagging online presence is a must if you want to keep getting clients.
Imagine someone finds you on Instagram, totally connects with you through your Stories. Your messaging is on point – how you help is super clear.
Thennn they click through to your outdated site with stale design, old offers, and confusing navigation. This creates a trust gap – who is the real Reader?
That potential client is gone before you even saw them.
BUT figuring out your next move to fix it when the economy is unpredictable is a tall order.
Michelle Warner talked recently on her Sequence over Strategy podcast about the 3 spending approaches people take when economic times are tough:
A) slam on the brakes,
B) keep going cautiously, with adjusted plans (most people fall here),
or C) keep moving forward as planned.
This is why in tough times, a renovation might be better for you than a new build.
Like keeping your car running with fixes and maintenance rather than buying a brand new model.
Here are two ways I can help with that renovation right now:
1: Your site needs help, but you need to hold off at the moment → Book a website review.
Get strategic, and find out what you need to fix before jumping in.
This is not just about aesthetics. It’s a diagnostic checkup that reveals hidden issues – costing you clients you didn’t even know were there.
Then, take the results and DIY with strategy or hire a pro when ready.
Last month I did an Untangled Analysis where we found:
→ Contact form going nowhere (whoops!)
→ Blog posts with broken links (easy fix)
→ Heading structure that is confusing Google (oof)
→ Navigation that’s confusing visitors (double oof)
Luckily The Untangled Analysis ($395) gives 101 points of review plus my walkthrough to show EXACTLY where your site could be pulling its weight… while you’re off, I dunno, at a protest maybe 👀
2: Your Squarespace site doesn’t need a total overhaul, it just needs to evolve → Spruce it up.
Tell me if this is you: Your site has great copy and graphics. You’re clear on your offers. But something is… off.
🤔 No matter how much you noodle, the design isn’t nearly as polished as your business IRL.
🤔 Your colors aren’t playing together nicely on the site as they do elsewhere in your brand.
🤔 You aren’t showing up the way you want in Google and when you do get visitors, they aren’t converting.
The Spruce-Up Sprint ($2400) is a quick, targeted tune-up for your existing Squarespace site. It's a limited-time offering I created specifically for the economic dumpster fire we're in right now.
With this sprint, I bring strategic polish to your existing design, navigation, and functionality – without the time or expense of a full rebuild.
It's not just about making your site prettier. We need to make sure your website effectively converts visitors into clients through strategic design, intuitive navigation, and functionality.

Just reply with “More please” and I’ll make you a lil walkthrough video, no presh.
Or book a vibe check call right now to see if it's a good fit:
You've got this,
PS I’m curious: which describes you and your business spending habits in these uncertain times?
A: slam on the brakes
B: move slowly, staying cautiously optimistic
C: full steam ahead believer
Hit reply with A, B, or C!
