For the last month, I’ve ghosted y’all – plus Threads, my blog, and Google Business. 🫣

You don't care why. It doesn't matter.

(Except to say that in that month, my husband and I left the kids for the first time in over 5 years (!!!) for my oldest friend's wedding in Brooklyn.)

👆 Exactly.

As with any bad habit, I’m ashamed of my marketing procrastination.

You know this feeling, right?

I’m beating myself up for not being more productive.

An ohhhhh boy, not only for slacking this past month. This whole year, I’ve had a LONG list of things I’m a little behind on:

… actually engage with my dormant Pinterest account and pin my blog posts
… reach out to podcasts for guesting spots
… start a Youtube channel & add videos to my blog

^ And by “a little behind”, I mean “not started, not even a little”.

Here’s the good news.

While I ducked and hid from every marketing platform, my list kept growing (one by one) and emails still went out.

💥 Visitors still found my site through SEO seeds I planted a year ago, that I keep tending via my blog every month or so.

💥 Which lead to my quiz, helping them figure out the next best step for their website growth.

💥 And that quiz not only funnels to my email list, but a specific email sequence geared toward their needs (and my offers).

💥 When that finishes, they receive my welcome sequence, introducing them to who I am and what I do.

Even when I'm off, a well-built site & systems still do the heavy lifting.

Phew.

When I saw those new subscribers coming in (hallo! 👋), I decided to stop kicking myself for “failing at marketing” while I was “living my life”.

I even played hooky this past 75-and-sunny Monday afternoon. I got on the electric bike, picked up my kids from school, and we met my husband at an ice cream shop along the river.

I mean, what’s the point of doing this solo small business thing if you can’t carpe the fucking diem every now and then?

One small first step:

Check your Google Business profile.

Its worth a whopping 25% of your search score, and many providers don't fully fill it out.

Google yourself from an incognito or private browser and see what pops up on the right hand side.

On that note, I could really use some more Google Reviews.

And let's be real: the people you want to find ya are more likely searching for what you offer than for your brand name.

So check your Page Titles and descriptions over there on the left. Make sure the words your best-fit clients are using when searching for help...are the words that actually show up.

Here's to many ice cream and sunshine-filled days,
